A Tibetan medical student died after he slipped and fell into a gorge near remote Marhi on Friday.
According to police sources, the deceased has been identified as Kulsang Gialso, 25, a second-year student of Tibetan Medical Institute, Dharamsala.
As many as 58 students of Tibetan Medical Institute, Dharamsala, were camping at Marhi on the Manali-Rohtang pass road since August 12 to study, collect, identify and research rare herbal plants in this high altitude belt of upper Kullu valley.
The incident took place when Gialso's foot slipped and he fell into a gorge. He was immediately shifted to the local civil hospital in critical condition, where he was declared brought dead.
According to Dr Balbir Rawal, senior medical officer, civil hospital, Gialso had a head injury that led to his death. The postmortem of the body was conducted and his body has been handed over to the Medical Institute authorities.
Gialso was an orphan and resident of Tibet.
