Trinamool Congress is all set to transform football to footfall as World Cup kicks off. The party’s student wing is reaching out to the youth by distributing nearly two million pamphlets of World Cup schedule with a picture of Mamata Banerjee in all colleges and universities of Bengal. Students are to fill in their name and number for future communication and membership.

The party is also organising repeat telecast on giant screens in education institutions for those who miss the match scheduled late at night, apart from World Cup quizzes. “Nothing is apolitical in this world. We have launched this initiative in all colleges and universities in the state and published over 17 lakh such pamphlets,” said Sonkudeb Panda, president, TMC Chattra Parishad.

“The matches are scheduled late night. Students who have missed on the matches will get a chance to see matches and highlights in giant screens in their colleges,” Panda added.

Sources in the party stated that this is the first time that such a mega initiative has been taken by the party to woo new young members and supporters from all across the state. Since presently admission season is going on in colleges and universities, the party also aims to catch on to newcomers through the initiative.
