Traffic restored on Rohtang Pass

The Leh border road was restored for traffic at Rohtang Pass, the gateway to Lahaul and Spiti and Ladakh region, on Saturday.


The General Reserve Engineering Force (GREF), a wing of Border Roads Organisation (BRO), reopened the road by launching a massive snow clearance operation from Marhi to Rohtang Pass.

According to reports received here, BRO  continued to clear snow at Rohtang Pass, despite adverse weather conditions.

After the restoration of Rohtang Pass, a large number of light and heavy vehicles reached Manali from Keylong and other parts of Lahaul Valley on Saturday.

Similarly, light and heavy vehicles awaiting restoration of traffic at Rohtang Pass at Manali also left for Keylong and other parts of Lahaul Valley.

Meanwhile, the administration has sounded an alert to people not to attempt to cross Rohtang Pass on foot to Lahaul Valley and vice-versa.

According to reports, Rohtang Pass had again started experiencing fresh snowfall, leading to fall in temperature in upper Kullu Valley and other parts of Manali region.
