The city police on Sunday arrested a trainee commercial pilot in connection with the murder of a 21-year-old engineering student two years ago.

The police said Parveen Kumar, the victim, had gone missing on October 24, 2010, from his Sushant Lok flat where he had been living with his friends. He was beaten to death by his friends following a drunken brawl and his body was dumped in Delhi. Two accused were arrested in November 2010.

Investigators said the main accused Rajat Singh, who had acquired commercial pilot licence from Philippines in 2007, was arrested at about 3.30 pm at Dharuhera. Though he had got licence, he couldn't manage to get a pilot's job. Therefore, he started an event management firm, the police said.

Singh from Changrod village in Bhiwani has been on the run ever since the case came to light. To evade arrest, he had taken a room on rent in Mumbai and also stayed in places like Jaipur and Kota. The state police had also announced Rs. 50,000 reward on him. The police will produce him before a court on Monday.
