Two class 10 girl students were attacked with acid when they were on way back home from school in Faridabad on Monday afternoon.

Both victims received burn injuries and were rushed to a government hospital where they are under treatment.

The incident took place around 2.30 pm near the home of one of victims.

An unidentified middle-aged person suddenly appeared on the spot and threw acid on them. He fled from the spot.

One of the girls was burnt on her back and head whereas the other suffered minor burn injuries on her legs.

Senior police officers and the school principal visited the victims in hospital.

“They have no idea who the attacker was. They say the attacker was a middle-aged man in a white kurta-pyjama set,” said Nand Ram, the principal.

“If anybody was harassing the victims, they would certainly have lodged a complaint with us, but this was not the case”, he added.

“We are investigating all angles. One girl received burn injuries on her back whereas the other received minor injuries,” ACP Mujesar Dalbir Singh said.
