Two members of a dreaded western Uttar Pradesh gang were nabbed on Saturday, police said.
Viresh Kumar and Shahzad Singh, members of Naresh Bhati gang, were responsible for procuring arms and ammunition and providing medical facilities to members injured in shootouts.
The police recovered a 9mm pistol and several live-cartridges from their possession.
Three members of the gang, Amit Singh, Manoj Nagla and Kuldeep Malik, gunned down one Naresh Tyagi on September 7 in full public view at Crossings Republik, Ghaziabad.
While Tyagi died in the firing, gang-member Amit Singh sustained a gunshot injury.
Later, Viresh and Shahzad took Amit to a private hospital at Meerut for treatment.
"The killing was plotted by a rival of Tyagi who hired three professional criminals from the Naresh Bhati gang for the job," superintendent of police (SP) SS Yadav said.
The police have also intercepted telephonic conversations of Viresh and Shahzad with Anil Dujana - who had been leading the gang after Naresh Bhati died. Dujana is presently lodged at Etawah prison.
