Two locals, identified as Asif Dar and Aqib Ramzan Batpora, were detained for their alleged involvement in killing the SPO at Chankhan, Sopore, and attack on sarpanch Khazir Mohammad Parray at Krankshivan colony, Sopore.

Sources said seven over ground workers have been arrested in connection with the two cases. Police sources said militants had prepared a list of people to be killed in the next seven days. Police have seized some documents from their possession.

On July 28, suspected militants had shot dead SPO Mudasir Ahmad Dar of Unto Hamam in Chankhan outside his home. Two days earlier, Parray, 44, was injured after some unidentified militants fired at him while he was returning after offering Friday prayers.

Reports said police had launched a search operation against militants after the incidents.
