Two militants killed in encounter

Two militants were killed on Saturday in an encounter with security forces in Shopian district of south Kashmir.


The encounter broke out between the militants and security forces in a village near Shopian town, 52 kms from Srinagar, last evening, official sources said.

The operation was going on in the area till last reports came in.

The killing of the ultras in Shopian comes two days after two militants, including top Jaish-e-Mohammad commander Sajjad Afghani, were killed in a shootout in Foreshore road area of the city.

An anti-militancy operation is also going on in Sopore town of Baramulla district. Security forces have cordoned off the area, where two militants are believed to be hiding, the sources said.
