Failing to find any clue about the two kidnapped girls despite thorough search in Udhampur, Katra and Jammu, the Udhampur police have now launched a hunt outside the state to trace them.

According to sources, the police have got some information about a suspected youth, Kishanganj, of Bihar, who was earlier jailed in connection with the murder case of Bari Brahmna.

The police have come to know that the youth also went missing after taking money from a contractor with whom he was working and was on leave for 12 days.

Sources said the Rehmbal police deputed a team to the neighbouring state in search of the kidnapped girl.

The station house officer of the Rehmbal police said the girls, identified as Rita Devi of Chopra Shop and Ruby Sharma of Ghari went to school on February 27, but did not return home.
Family members of the girls filed a missing report with the police, after which the cops launched a manhunt to trace them.

He added that the police was investigating all angles to ascertain where the girls could have gone or whether they were kidnapped.

He admitted that a police team had been sent outside the state to search the missing girls.
