A defence spokesperson said the firing started early morning at 9.30 am and continued till 6pm. Both sides exchanged heavy fire.  Though firing has stopped, troops are anticipating another fire.

This was the eleventh ceasefire violation by Pakistan in the past five days. "Three soldiers received minor injuries. Two were hit by splinters on foot, and one near the eye. They are being hospitalised," said a defence spokesperson.

Meanwhile, a group, which had reportedly crossed over the LoC, was seen moving suspiciously in Doda battalion area in Mendhar sector. Reports say that the group though had retreated, the Indian Army apprehended it could be a Pakistani border action team (BAT). A high alert has been sounded and a combing operation is on. A Pakistan border action team comprises terrorists and army regulars.

Pakistan troops had on Tuesday night attempted another action, similar to the one on August 6 in which five soldiers were killed, but failed. The injured civilian has been identified as Parvaiz, a porter with the army.
