Union water resources minister Uma Bharti was on Friday admitted to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), after she complained of severe knee pain.
The 57 year old minister was admitted in the new private ward under the supervision of Dr Rajesh Malhotra who heads the orthopedic department at the hospital.
The Aiims authorities, however, called it a routine visit.
“The minister has been admitted to Aiims for her routine knee condition under Prof Rajesh Malhotra, HOD (Orthopaedics). She also has mild hypertension for which her cardiac examination was done by Prof Ambuj Roy and her condition presently is stable and healthy,” read the official statement from Aiims.
