Just a day before Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to the state, Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Omar Abdullah on Monday said that the UPA government had handed over state-of-the-art projects to the NDA and failed to take credit for the same.

Speaking to HT, Abdullah said all projects that have been inaugurated in the state since BJP came to power were ready and functional but the Congress-led UPA failed to inaugu-rate them.

“The Prime Minister is welcome to visit the state but the credit for projects like the hydro power projects in Ladakh or Uri, the Katra Udhampur railway link should have gone to Manmohan Singh. I am disappointed that they never bothered to inaugurate them,’’ Abdullah said.

Modi will lay the foundation stone of the 330 km Leh-Srinagar transmission line and inaugurate two hydro-power projects in the Ladakh region (Kargil and Leh) during his day-long visit on Tuesday.

This is Modi’s first visit to the cold desert Ladakh region and second to the state after he took over as the PM.
