Addressing mediapersons here on Monday, Himachal Pradesh Congress Committee (HPCC) spokesperson Naresh Chauhan gave credit to the public of the Mandi constituency and the party workers right from the highest rung to the lowest, who worked as a team for the overwhelming victory of Congress candidate Pratibha Singh with a huge margin of 1.36 lakh votes.

He especially thanked the voters of Kinnaur, who despite the natural calamity that struck the region, came out to vote. In Kinnaur, Pratibha Singh had defeated BJP candidate Jairam Thakur by more than 11,000 votes.

“It is evident from the success of the Congress candidate that the people have reposed their faith in the Congress government and is also the outcome of the six months' development works of the Congress since it came to power that has been appreciated and welcomed by the public,” he added.
T
he public had also given a befitting reply to the false propaganda of the BJP leaders, Prem Kumar Dhumal, Shanta Kumar, Jairam Thakur and Anurag Thakur, who had made statements of Congress having failed in the six-month tenure, said Chauhan.

The victory, he said, was the result of the uniform coordination among the party members, where each member of the party played an important role in bringing about the victory.
Senior party leaders - chief minister Virbhadra Singh, Vidya Stokes, Kaul Singh Thakur and HPCC president Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu - all experienced and old hand in the party had worked hard in these elections.

He said, “The victory has instilled enthusiasm among the party and we are optimistic of winning the four Lok Sabha seats in the forthcoming general elections. With a few months to go for this election, the Congress party has geared up to wrest the four seats.”
