Vaadi-e-Kashmir, a short film celebrating the Valley’s warmth and oneness, has been dedicated to the nation by home minister Rajnath Singh and parliamentarian Hema Malini.

“Kashmiris are an important part of the development of this nation. We wish to ensure a promising future for the people of Jammu and Kashmir,” Singh said at an event in New Delhi on September 5.

The film starts with an introduction by Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan – before the camera cuts to the picturesque Valley, and captures the freshness, beauty and slices of life in Kashmir.

The song in the background has been sung by Shankar Mahadevan and composed by the Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy trio. The lyrics are by Gulzaar.

The film, a CSR initiative of KENT RO, has been made by Law & Kenneth Saatchi & Saatchi. KENT RO chairman Mahesh Gupta was present at the event alongside Singh and Hema Malini.

“The vision of this short 6 minutes film is to make our brothers and sisters in Kashmir feel that the rest of the country stands with them and also open many more doors to bring us closer to each other,” Gupta said.

Hema Malini, who has worked closely with the film’s creative team, said: “As an Indian, this film is my attempt to reach out to Kashmir and touch the hearts of our brothers and sisters in the Valley.”

Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised Hema Malini for her efforts.

He tweeted:
