Senior BJP leader Lal Krishna Advani said on Tuesday that even though the US had imposed sanctions against India after the nuclear explosion, the BJP-led NDA government ensured that there was no inflation in the country for six-and-a-half years that Atal Bihari Vajpayee was the prime minister.
“Vajpayee was the best prime minister the country had seen and there was no whiff of any scandal during this period,” a nostalgic Advani said while addressing an election rally at Ratlam.
Hitting out at the UPA government he said, “Now the problem is that the country is being run by both Manmohan Singh who is the figurehead and Sonia Gandhi, who is the real power.”
Advani appealed to the people to vote for the BJP candidate Chaitanya Kashyap. “Vote for Kashyap and with Shivraj Singh Chouhan as the chief minister, you won’t be disappointed,” he said.
The BJP leader praised both Chouhan and Narendra Modi. He said both had earned a name for themselves in the national sphere. While Chouhan was counted as one of the finest chief ministers of the country, Modi has been made the prime ministerial candidate.
