“I am happy and satisfied. It is people’s mandate for change and it is a mandate for Modi’s popularity...time has come to rewrite Indian success story,” the BJP president said addressing a press conference at the BJP headquarters.
On what role would be given to senior leaders like Advani and Sushma Swaraj, the BJP president said, “The role of senior BJP leaders including LK Advani would be taken after meeting of the central parliamentary board.”
Singh once again reiterated that there is no difference within the party over the leadership of Modi. “The reports about differences over leadership are baseless. The party is united over Modi’s leadership,” he said.
The BJP president said the party fought the elections on the agenda of good governance and development.
“People have also the example of development works done by Modi as chief minister for 12 years in Gujarat. It’s the first time after 1984 that a single party and pre-poll alliance has got a clear majority to form government at the Centre,” he said.
Earlier in the day senior congratulating Modi senior BJP leader LK Advani said, “For the past at least two to three years from the time of Commnwealth Games that country’s views was going against Congress and the ruling party should understand that they contributed to most of it. We were in opposition and we took advantage of that. But any amount of efforts by us still cannot match the work done by Congress. I don’t think any government in India’s history has worked that hard to lose,” Advani told reporters.
