There is no question of people not giving a decisive verdict, they do not want a lame government, Bharatiya Janata Party prime ministerial nominee Narendra Modi said in an interview broadcast on Times Now on Friday.
“Youngsters will give power to the BJP. They will ensure we get 300 seats,” the Gujarat chief minister said.
Modi’s assertion is in line with the BJP’s ‘Mission 272-plus’, a campaign pitch to achieve majority on its own in the 543-member Lok Sabha.
Asked about perceptions of BJP being a one-man show, with reference to the “Ab ki baar Modi sarkar” slogan, he said, “There is only BJP wave in the country. Modi is only a cog in the wheel."
Modi added he was a team player. “I am against individualism. A country as big as ours cannot run on individualistic ideologies.”
Asked about demands for an apology over the 2002 riots in Gujarat under his watch as CM, especially from political rival Congress, Modi stuck to his stated position.
“The Congress must give an account of its own sins.”
Asked if the Congress was corrupt, he said, “I am not interested in politics of vindictiveness. Politics of vindictiveness doesn't reflect well on a democracy.”
On the media, he said the “media does its job, it is news traders who ignite controversies”.
