A bride's family refused to solemnise the marriage at Sihodih village in Giridih when the groom's party scuffled over a chicken dish. The groom's party had to return.

It all happened at Sihodih village, about 2 km from the district headquarters at Giridih, when one Md Sajad, one of the sons of late Nizzamuddin, a resident of Pachamba locality of Giridih, along with his family, relatives and few neighbours, had come to tie the nuptial knot with one, Heena, one of the daughters of Md Sirajuddin, resident of Sihodih.
As the wedding party arrived at the bride's reception hall and sat for dinner, one of the brothers-in-law of the bridegroom demanded a special recipe of chicken that was not ready. This led to a hot exchange and later culminated in a scuffle between the two parties. The scuffle became so intense that the bridegroom had to escape without solemnising the wedding.

The bride's family said bridegroom's wedding party was uncultured and ill-mannered, while the groom's party said they created unnecessary scenes.

The incident took place around 11.30 pm on Thursday, after the groom's party had entered the door of the bride's family, where the scheduled marriage ceremony was to take place on Friday afternoon.

Speaking to the Hindustan Times, one Irfan, one of the brothers of the said that he and his family had just protested against the undue demand of the bridegroom's relative, but they started misbehaving with them. "We will never get our sister married with a person who creates a hue and cry for a piece of chicken. They were uncultured and ill-mannered," Irfan told HT.

On the other hand, Md Samasad, the elder brother of the bridegroom, who had also received injuries during the scuffle and was admitted to the Giridih Sadar hospital alleged, "After noticing altercations between the two parties, I intervened and requested them to stop futile discussions, but the bride's family started hitting us."
