The West Bengal Pollution Control Board (WBPCB) on Wednesday banned sale and use of firecrackers exceeding 90 decibel sound limit.

“The maximum permissible noise level of firecrackers at the time of bursting of firecrackers within the state of West Bengal must not exceed 90 dB(A) impulse noise at five meters from the source,” a WBPCB statement said.
