A 25-year-old resident of East Delhi was allegedly raped by two men in an SUV with tinted glasses in the basement parking of Mahagun Metro Mall in Vaishali, Ghaziabad on Thursday afternoon. The victim reported the matter to police on Friday morning.

Initial investigations revealed that the victim was called by a woman friend to the EDM mall in Ghaziabad at noon on Thursday to meet two men, Nawab Bhati and Sandeep Bhati, both in their early 20s. “The two women went along with the two men for lunch at the EDM mall and stayed there for around four hours.
The victim was later taken to Mahagun Metro Mall in Vaishali by the duo in a white Scorpio,” senior superintendent of police (SSP) Prashant Kumar said.
“There in the basement parking, the two men allegedly raped her inside the SUV with tinted glasses and fled,” the SSP said.

The police then launched a manhunt and nabbed Nawab.
Sources said Nawab was facilitating a business deal with a group interested in acquiring a discotheque at the mall where the victim said she was raped.
A spokesperson of Mahagun Metro Mall said, “If the victim had raised an alarm, our security would have taken action against the culprits. The incident took place in a vehicle with tinted glasses, which in itself is a security hazard.”
