Uttar Pradesh chief minister Akhilesh Yadav said his government was working towards encouraging girls education in the state.
"The government is taking prompt steps for encouraging girls education in the state," Yadav was quoted as saying in an official release while inaugurating late Maharaj Smriti Kanya Mahavidyalaya in Auraiya district of the state.
Besides, several schemes are being run to improve the condition of villagers, farmers, backwards and the poor, he said.
The chief minister said all out efforts were being made to meet the requirements of people with regard to power, roads, education and health.
He said with the new college, the girls of the area would get equal opportunities to progress like the girls of urban areas.
Referring to the Samajwadi pension yojna of his government, he said now the poor belonging to all castes and sections of society will get pension as per the norms and no poor person would be deprived of it.
