According to a statement, a written order banning Malik and his associate Mushtaq Ajmal from entering Jammu was issued by the government. "Yasin and Mushtaq Ajmal, who were supposed to appear before a POTA court in Jammu, were stopped by police and a written order of the district magistrate in this connection was handed over to them," the statement says.

The JKLF said it "condemned this dictatorial attitude and order of the rulers" and termed it as most undemocratic.

The state government had banned the entry of political parties in the Jammu region following communal clashes in Kishtwar. It had also not allowed leaders from mainstream political parties like the BJP and PDP to enter Jammu during the clashes.
