Zubin Mehta concert: The mystery of missing celebs

Besides the politics, Zubin Mehta concert was highly anticipated for the list of celebrities which was doing rounds.


However big names like Amitabh Bachchan, Sachin Tendulkar and industrialists like Ambanis who were believed to be invited by the German Embassy, were not seen in the concert.

Some media magnates like India today groups Arun Poorie, Nusli Wadia, designer Manish Malhotra, actor Rahul Bose, dignitaries from various embassies made it to the concert.

Against the magnificent backdrop of the world famous Shalimar Bagh and the Zabarwan hills, the music maestro Zubin Mehta performed the world renowned Bavarian State Orchestra enthralling the audience.

He said “I have waited and dreamt for this moment all my life and every person on the sub-continent will agree that this is where it should be”, adding that he will again perform a musical concert in presence of every Kashmiri and not the only 2000 present today.

Reiterating the same Chief Minister Omar Abdullah also said that "the concert was never about big names".


SM Sahai, Additional Director General of Police - As a music lover. I thought the show was great. The fusion part was the best.

Kuldeep Khoda,Vigilance commission - I enjoyed the show. Since we are used to Kashmiri music move, the fusion just struck the right cord instantly.

Abhay Sopori - It was a great momemt for me. I think I am the only fortunate one to be on the stage with the great Zubin Mehta. I thank almighty for such day.
