MS Dhoni has got the better of the best of fielders and their throwing arm many a time. But have you ever wondered how he has been able to convert so many singles into twos for India, making it all look so simple?

The Yo Yo test may be causing all the buzz as far as the Indian cricket team under Virat Kohli is concerned, but MS Dhoni, not known to be a big fan of the gym or modern training methods, is still the king when it comes to sprinting between the wickets.

A recent video analysis shared by India’s official broadcaster Star Sports may give some insight into how Dhoni — still one of the fittest cricketers at the age of 36 — manages to stay one of the best when it comes to running between the wickets.

In the video clip from the second T20I between India and Australia in Guwahati, an analytical study was done on Dhoni and the speeds he clocks at various stages while running between the wickets.

Dhoni sets off on a run as soon as he has worked the ball on the leg side, the video shows. While his batting partner, who appears to be the 32-year-old Kedar Jadhav, clocks a top speed of 25 kph, Dhoni can be seen outpacing his younger partner.

Dhoni clocks 31 kph while completing the second run, and makes the crease comfortably with the throw coming to the wicketkeeper and not going to the bowler’s end — where Jadhav seems to be only halfway down the pitch while completing the second run.

Dhoni’s amazing speed is fresh proof of his supreme fitness and agility that has allowed him to continue playing limited-overs cricket, though some critics keep demanding answers about his future.

The former India skipper is expected to continue playing till at least the 2019 World Cup in England.
