00:59 hrs IST: That is all from the West Indies. India’s next international assignment is against Sri Lanka on July 26. Until then, see ya!

00:50 hrs IST: Carlos Brathwaite: I gave them the captain’s incentive, whoever goes and gets a fifty gets half my match fee. We wanted to put smiles on the faces of the fans and that’s what we come back to do

00:42 hrs IST: Lewis: Once you get a hundred against a team like India, it’s a good hundred. Five games in a row, in the ODIs, I didn’t do well. But I kept believing in my ability and today I came out trumps

00:40 hrs IST: Evin Lewis is the Man of the Match for his blazing knock of 125* off 62 balls, which is the highest individual score by a batsman in a T20I against India.

00:35 hrs IST: Virat Kohli: In the first innings, we could have added 25-30 extra. We were on course for 230. And in the field as well, we dropped a few chances and if you don’t grab them you don’t deserve to win.

00:28 hrs IST: West Indies have done it and fittingly, Evin Lewis seals the deal. He launches Jadeja over long leg for his 12th six and West Indies have beaten India by nine wickets. What a performance. Lewis’ batting has shown that the Windies are indeed the champions of Twenty20 cricket.

00:22 hrs IST: Samuels finds the boundary first ball but Bhuvneshwar responds with a great couple of balls. West Indies need 8 off 12 balls.

00:18 hrs IST: 11th six. Lewis storm has hit Jamaica and the fans are thrilled. This is brilliant.

00:14 hrs IST: The wheels have come off India. Lewis creams a short ball to wide long off for a boundary. West Indies need 27 off 24 balls.

00:13 hrs IST: Missed stumping! Samuels looks to launch it over long on but the ball hits the pad and goes past Dhoni for another boundary. This has been a brilliant chase.

00:12 hrs IST: Lewis had scored a century in the Lauderhill T20I in which they scored 245. This has been an exhibition from Lewis and he is taking West Indies home.

00:11 hrs IST: Ninth six and a single. Lewis has blasted a century off 53 balls. His second ton and both have come against India. What a player! This is the highest score by a West Indies player in the Windies, beating Chris Gayle’s 98 also against India in the 2010 World T20.

00:08 hrs IST: Eighth six for Lewis and he moves into the 90s. This is sublime and calculated hitting. So much power!

00:06 hrs IST: Inside edged and past the man at short fine leg. Shami’s horror day continues. The fifty-run stand is up. West Indies need 56 off 36 balls. Shami’s figures: 3-0-46-0.

00:04 hrs IST: CRUNCH! This is tremendous. Full ball and Samuels crunches a flat six over wide long off. The game swings in favour of West Indies.

00:03 hrs IST: With Jadeja’s tight over, the pressure has mounted but Shami is threatening to get West Indies back in the contest as Marlon Samuels finds the boundary.

00:00 hrs IST: Brilliant from Jadeja. Gives away only two runs. West Indies are fizzling out. Asking rate jumps to over 10.

23:58 hrs IST: Kuldeep had bowled a brilliant over but Lewis spoils it by slog sweeping the last ball over long leg for a big six. Seventh six for Lewis and West Indies stay in the hunt.

23:56 hrs IST: Almost bowled! Kuldeep floats it on the pads and Lewis attempts the sweep but the ball just goes over the stumps.

23:54 hrs IST: We are now in the last part of this game. West Indies need 85 off 54. With nine wickets in hand, more than gettable.

23:52 hrs IST: The pressure is telling on Shami. He bowls a wide. This is not working out for India.

23:49 hrs IST: When it comes to power, no one can match the West Indies. Shami starts badly in his second over. Short ball and Lewis hits it out of the park over deep mid wicket.

23:48 hrs IST: West Indies need 96 off 60 balls to win. This is getting very close indeed. Can Lewis take the hosts over the line?

23:45 hrs IST: Meanwhile, Lewis continues in his big-hitting. Full toss from Ashwin and Lewis blasts it down the ground for his fifth six. What power!

23:43 hrs IST: Great over from Kuldeep Yadav. Four runs and the wicket of Gayle. Can India pull things back here?

23:41 hrs IST: WICKET! Some respite for India. Short and flat delivery outside off, Gayle top-edges the pull shot and Dhoni takes the catch. Chris Gayle c MS Dhoni b Kuldeep Yadav 18 (20).

23:38 hrs IST: Lewis continues to hurt India as he drills a drive through deep extra cover. This has been an exhibition in batting. There is an appeal for stumping but Lewis’ back foot is behind the line. After eight overs, West Indies are 82/0.

23:35 hrs IST: Dropped again! Nothing going right for India. Dinesh Karthik misses it totally. The crowd in Jamaica are thrilled.

23:33 hrs IST: Out of Sabina Park! Lewis mauls this out of the ground and he brings up his 2nd fifty off 24 balls. What an exhibition of batting this has been

23:31 hrs IST: Catch dropped! Total miscommunication. Lewis miscues the shot to long on and Kohli is settling underneath it, but Shami is running across and there is no calling, Shami collides with Kohli and the catch is spilled.

23:30 hrs IST: This is carnage from Lewis. Bhuvneshwar offers width and Lewis flays a cover drive to the boundary. The last three overs have changed the course of the match.

23:29 hrs IST: Lewis is dealing only in sixes. He makes room and Bhuvneshwar follows him with yet another short ball but the batsman muscles the pull over deep mid wicket for yet another six.

23:24 hrs IST: BAM! Jamaica is in raptures. Lewis is in punishing form. He pulls Ashwin over long on for a huge six and follows it up with another monster hit down the ground. The fifty-run stand is up in just the fifth over. West Indies on track. After five overs, West Indies are 52/0.

23:21 hrs IST: BAM! This is brutal from Lewis. Wide ball from Shami and Lewis crunches the drive past extra cover for a blazing boundary. And there is a hat-trick of fours as Lewis steers another wide ball to third man. 19 runs in Shami’s first over and West Indies are 36/0 after four overs.

23:19 hrs IST: Poor start this from Shami. Short and wide ball and Lewis crashes the square cut to the deep backward point fence.

23:18 hrs IST: Gayle is winding up here. He blasts Mohammed Shami down the ground. He is looking ominous.

23:13 hrs IST: Missed run-out! Gayle tucks it to square leg and hesitates in taking the single, the fielder misses at the bowler’s end. Gayle was a goner if that had hit.

23:11 hrs IST: Vintage Gayle! He launches into Ashwin and sends it into the stands straight down the ground. That has got the crowd in Jamaica going.

23:09 hrs IST: Ravichandran Ashwin into the attack. Gayle misses a slog. Interesting times these.

23:08 hrs IST: Steady start for Bhuvneshwar as only five runs are scored in the first over. Maybe the calm before the storm.

23:04 hrs IST: Bhuvneshwar Kumar opens the bowling and Lewis miscues the pull shot but it does not go to the boundary.

23:02 hrs IST: Out come the Windies openers. It will be Gayle but with Ewin Lewis. West Indies going for experience and not experiment.

23:00 hrs IST: Welcome back. Will Sunil Narine open with Chris Gayle? Looking at his IPL exploits, West Indies can try.

22:46 hrs IST: 18 runs in the final over and Ashwin ends in style as he drills Kesrick Williams down the ground for a boundary. India have reached 190/6 after 20 overs. West Indies have a tall task but they have the firepower.

22:43 hrs IST: Looks to glance off the pads but it goes past the keeper for leg byes. India go past 180.

22:42 hrs IST: CRASH! Finally the boundary drought has ended. Full and slow ball outside off, Jadeja winds up and launches it over deep mid wicket for a big six. Much needed boundary.

22:40 hrs IST: Eight runs in the 19th over. But no boundaries from India. West Indies are ending strongly here. Can India go past 180?

22:37 hrs IST: No boundaries have been hit since the 16th over. India are not finishing off well and this could hurt Virat Kohli’s side.

22:34 hrs IST: India have lost four wickets for 13 runs in the death overs. West Indies are fighting back admirably. Can they restrict India to under 180?

22:33 hrs IST: WICKET! India are losing the plot in the death overs. Short ball on middle and it climbs up, Jadhav top-edges the pull shot and the fielder runs in and takes a good catch at deep backward square leg. Kedar Jadhav c Narine b Kesrick Williams 4 (4)

22:29 hrs IST: Jadhav is the key now. India will be wanting to go past 180 or 190? Can they score big in the last couple of overs?

22:27 hrs IST: WICKET! Taylor on a hat-trick now. Short ball and on middle, Pant looks to ramp it over the keeper but edges it through. Wastes a good opportunity. Rishabh Pant c Chadwick Walton b Jerome Taylor 38 (35).

22:25 hrs IST: WICKET! Length ball and Dhoni goes for the big hit, but he mistimes it totally and short third man takes the catch. No late over heroics from Dhoni. MS Dhoni c Samuels b Taylor 2 (3).

22:22 hrs IST: Pant is miscuing the shots on a regular basis. One hand is coming off the bat handle but somehow he has hung in there.

22:20 hrs IST: India are 153/3 in 16 overs. With Dhoni at the crease and Pant well-settled, can they get to 200?

22:19 hrs IST: WICKET! Too much innovation. Karthik moves to the off side and looks to lap it round the corner, but he misses it. Ends a good knock from DK. Dinesh Karthik b Marlon Samuels 48 (29).

22:16 hrs IST: Pant brings up the team 150 in the 15th over as he hacks a short and wide ball over cover for a boundary. This will hurt West Indies big time.

22:15 hrs IST: WHAM! Well, looks like Pant is going to end the struggles here. He launches Samuels high over wide long on for his first six. More of that please!

22:13 hrs IST: Pant is really struggling out there. He is not timing the ball well. Net result, he is on 24 off 28 balls and India are 140/2 after 15 overs.

22:11 hrs IST: A mini-stoppage as Pant receives some attention. In the ICC Women’s World Cup, England have defeated Australia by three runs. This means that no team is yet assured of a semi-final spot.

22:09 hrs IST: Taylor bangs the short ball in and Pant is hurried on the pull shot, he swivels and gets hit on the shoulder and he is in pain. But, he is alright.

22:07 hrs IST: Karthik is nearing fifty. India on course for 200. Can West Indies pull things back in the final overs?

22:05 hrs IST: Over in Lord’s, England have thrashed South Africa by 211 runs to take a 1-0 lead. Moeen Ali the star with 6/53 and 10 in the match to go with his 87. Fear the Beard!

22:04 hrs IST: In the air but safe! The pressure is getting on Pant. He misuces a lofted shot to mid off but it lands in front of the fielder. One hand came off the bat handle. Karthik nears a fifty with a late cut to the third man fence.

22:00 hrs IST: Karthik was taking it too casually there. Chadwick Walton has a shy at the striker’s end but he misses. DK was a goner there. However, next ball, he pulls a six over deep mid wicket for a six.

21:58 hrs IST: Superb shot from Karthik. Short ball on middle and leg stump, the batsman moves to the off side and lap pulls it to the fine leg fence for this second six. Pant is playing second fiddle.

21:57 hrs IST: Sluggish bounce visible on this pitch for the first time. The partnership between Karthik and Pant has crossed 50.

21:53 hrs IST: Narine continues to bowl steadily. However, he ends the over badly as Karthik cuts him away to the deep point fence. After 12 overs, India are 114/2.

21:50 hrs IST: BOOM! Karthik punishes Samuels. Flighted delivery and Karthik slog sweeps it on to the roof at deep mid wicket. Next ball, he follows it up with a paddle pull to a short and fast delivery as India reach 105/2 in 11 overs.

21:49 hrs IST: As the game is progressing, stroke-making is becoming a bit more difficult. Pant is struggling to time the ball.

21:47 hrs IST: Karthik finds the boundary with a sweep shot but Narine pulls it back. After 10 overs, India are 93/2.

21:43 hrs IST: India’s run-rate has dipped slightly to under 10 after the fall of Kohli and Dhawan, but Pant and Karthik are finding the boundaries.

21:41 hrs IST: Pant scores his first boundary in T20I cricket. Short ball from Badree and the batsman pulls it to the deep mid wicket fence.

21:39 hrs IST: Over in Lord’s, England are two wickets away from wrapping up a memorable win. Moeen Ali has taken a five-wicket haul.

21:37 hrs IST: Poor ball from Narine. Short and sitting up outside off, Karthik square-cuts it to the deep backward point fence. After eight overs, India are 78/2. Pant has equalled his highest score in T20Is.

21:35 hrs IST: Sunil Narine into the attack now. Pant and Karthik have to maintain the momentum set up by Kohli and Dhawan.

21:34 hrs IST: With the departure of Kohli and Dhawan, West Indies will be wanting to pull the run-rate back. How will Rishabh Pant approach the innings?

21:33 hrs IST: We are now in the middle order which is dominated by four wicketkeepers. Pant, Dinesh Karthik, Kedar Jadhav and MS Dhoni. Spoilt for options.

21:29 hrs IST: WICKET! Oh boy! Total mix-up. Rishabh Pant knocks to the off side and Dhawan hares through thinking there is a quick single, but he is sent back and the bowler scores a direct hit at the bowler’s end. Shikhar Dhawan run-out (Kesrick Williams) 23 (12)

21:26 hrs IST: WICKET! One shot too many. Short of a length ball outside off, Kohli once again looks to loft it over long on but miscues it totally and Sunil Narine takes the catch at mid on. Virat Kohli c Sunil Narine b Kesrick Williams 39 (21), India 64/1 in 5.3 overs.

21:23 hrs IST: WHAM! First six of the match. Back of a length ball on off stump, Kohli just stands there and crunches the lofted drive over long on for the first six of the game. West Indies cannot stop the flow of runs.

21:22 hrs IST: Over in Lord’s, England are just four wickets away from a win as they have reduced South Africa to 67/6 in pursuit of 331. After five overs, India are 54/0.

21:20 hrs IST: Kohli brings the team fifty up in just 28 balls as he clobbers a full ball through covers. This has been an amazing partnership.

21:19 hrs IST: Dhawan is matching Kohli in the boundary hit. Brathwaite slants a short ball in but Dhawan upper-cuts it to the third man fence.

21:18 hrs IST: Carlos ‘Remember the name’ Brathwaite into the attack now. West Indies struggling for ideas.

21:17 hrs IST: Dhawan and Kohli continue to blaze away. This is a typical T20I wicket. We are in for a high-scoring game today.

21:15 hrs IST: In the air but safe! Williams stays wide of the crease and slants in a short ball outside off, Kohli top-edges the pull but it lands safely and rolls away to the long off fence. Williams tries another short ball but the Indian skipper rides the bounce and pulls it to the deep mid wicket fence for another boundary.

21:14 hrs IST: Kesrick Williams, who bowled well in the death overs for West Indies, comes into the attack now. Can he strike? This is a great start for India.

21:13 hrs IST: A much better over for the West Indies as only six runs are given away, but Dhawan hits his fourth boundary with an edge to third man. India continue their strong start.

21:09 hrs IST: Unlucky 13 again for the West Indies. Taylor concedes 13 runs in his first over as Dhawan drives a full ball on the up to the deep extra cover fence. After two overs, India are 26/0.

21:06 hrs IST: Another poor ball, another boundary. Taylor too full and on the pads, Kohli wrists it away to the deep mid wicket fence.

21:05 hrs IST: After a poor first over, West Indies will be looking to pull it back through Jerome Taylor. However, he too starts off poorly as Kohli flicks him away to the long leg fence.

21:03 hrs IST: Poor start for Samuel Badree. Kohli gets off the mark with a boundary to fine leg while Dhawan slams two boundaries. After the first over, India are 13/0. Over in Lord’s, South Africa are 54/4 in pursuit of 331. England on top.

21:01 hrs IST: The India Test squad has been announced for the Sri Lanka series. Rohit Sharma returns in place of Karun Nair while Hardik Pandya and Abhinav Mukund are included in the squad.

20:59 hrs IST: Out come the India openers Virat Kohli and Shikhar Dhawan. The Indian captain came back to form in the last match while Dhawan has suffered a dip.

20:53 hrs IST: Pant featured in one T20I against England in Bangalore in February 2017. His contribution in that match was an unbeaten five and a catch.

20:41 hrs IST: Here are playing XIs of both sides

India: Shikhar Dhawan, Virat Kohli(c), Rishabh Pant, Dinesh Karthik, MS Dhoni(w), Kedar Jadhav, Ravindra Jadeja, Ravichandran Ashwin, Kuldeep Yadav, Mohammed Shami, Bhuvneshwar Kumar

West Indies: Chris Gayle, Evin Lewis, Chadwick Walton(w), Marlon Samuels, Kieron Pollard, Rovman Powell, Carlos Brathwaite(c), Sunil Narine, Samuel Badree, Jerome Taylor, Kesrick Williams

20:39 hrs IST: Plenty of changes in the Indian team. Rishabh Pant replaces Ajinkya Rahane while Ravichandran Ashwin and Bhuvneshwar Kumar have been included. For West Indies, Gayle returns along with Pollard.

20:35 hrs IST: West Indies have won the toss and they have chosen to bowl. India have not won a toss in the whole tour.

20:32 hrs IST: The toss has been delayed because Hardik Pandya has hobbled off with a injury while warming up. So, a change in the Indian team most likely.

20:24 hrs IST: West Indies have won the last two out of three encounters against India in T20Is. One match was abandoned. Will the pitch in Sabina Park produce a high-scoring one?

20:17 hrs IST: There is plenty of action happening in cricket apart from this match. In the ICC Women’s World Cup, Australia and England are battling out in a tense encounter while West Indies women are on top against Sri Lanka women. At Lord’s, England have South Africa on the ropes heading into the final session on day 4.

20:08 hrs IST: In addition to Chris Gayle, the likes of Sunil Narine, Kieron Pollard and Samuel Badree also return to the West Indies side. This match has a proper IPL feel about it. This will be the last international match for India after which they will have a 15-day break before they embark on a series to Sri Lanka.

19:59 hrs IST: If the ODIs showed India’s dominance, then in T20Is, West Indies are the most dominant. They hold a 4-2 head-to-head record against India in T20Is and in their last encounter, they won a thrilling match by one run in a record match at Lauderhill.

19:50 hrs IST: A warm welcome to the one-off Twenty20 International between West Indies and India from Sabina Park, Jamaica. The major interest for the fans in Kingston will be the return of their hero, Chris Gayle, who will play his first international match since the World T20 final against England in Kolkata in March 2016.

There was a buzz at the Sabina Park on Friday and Saturday as the big names of West Indies cricket finally returned to play in maroons.

Chris Gayle, Marlon Samuels, Kieron Pollard and Sunil Narine, all of who missed the ODIs despite being fit and free, took the field and after a brief chat with coach Stuart Law got down to business.
