As many as 1.34 lakh more voters have become eligible to exercise their right of franchise in the coming Lok Sabha elections in Jammu and Kashmir as compared to the size of the electorate in the state in 2004.
As many as 65,11,638 voters are eligible to vote in Jammu and Kashmir during this Lok Sabha polls, they said, adding that in 2004 LS polls, as many as 63,72,136 voters were registered.
"As many as 1,34,766 new voters have been enrolled in this LS polls than 2004," election department officials said.
As many as 79,230 more women and 55,536 male voters will be eligible to exercise their franchise this time than in 2004.
A total of 35,27,672 male voters and 29,83,966 female voters will be eligible to vote this time as compared to 34,72,136 male and 29,04,736 female voters in 2004.
A total of 9,077 polling stations will be set up in the state for the LS polls this time, they said, adding that in 2004, only 7,217 polling stations were set up.
