The sector-29 police have registered a case of fraud against a former manager of the Indian Airlines Pilots Co-operatives House Building Society Limited on Monday.
The accused, allegedly misappropriated Rs 11 lakh from the society fund. The society building is located on MG Road.
“We got to know about the irregularities on October 12, last year after an audit report. The accused’s service was terminated subsequently on April 6 this year. Under his tenure there was no audit of the society accounts, in the last five year. He has violated the provisions of Haryana Co-operative Department Rules,” said YVS Chahal, president of the society. “After the accused failed to respond to the society’s notices in this regard, we filed a police complaint against him,” he added.
The society in October last year has asked the accused to conduct the fund audit and had given him a deadline of March 31, 2011. However, he ignored it.
“We have registered a case against the accused under sections 406 and 420 of the IPC and are investigating the matter, said a police official.
