A 23-year-old man was brutally stabbed to death by local goons, while his two brothers were critically injured following an altercation after a road rage incident at Ram Vihar area of Loni near Delhi-Ghaziabad border on Friday night.

According to the police, Sonu Sharma, the victim, had gone to the house of his elder brothers, Virender Sharma and Rajendra Sharma, to attend a birthday party. After the birthday celebrations were over at around 10.30pm, the family went out to see-off the guests at a nearby road.

“As the members were about to leave, their vehicles were hit by two bikes coming from behind, which were being driven by local goons. When the three brothers objected to the incident, an altercation broke out between the two groups,” SSP Raghubir Lal said.

The altercation grew further as the bikers insisted the family should give way to their bikes. Later, the bikers called up their accomplices. Four to five men joined in and allegedly led a brutal assault on the brothers. “Soon the brothers were mercilessly attacked by the goons with knives. The incident led to two of them being seriously injured while Sonu succumbed to his injuries sustained on his private parts,” SSP added.

The police have arrested Pratap Kumar, Yogesh Singh and Manoj Kumar in the case. “The people who led the assault are in age group of 19-20 years and are local goons,” said Lal.
