One person was arrested here on charge of supplying a truckload of beef fat to Guwahati for the purpose of mixing it in edible oils, police said on Wednesday.

Acting on a tip-off Mohammed Abdul Hafeez, a retired bank employee representing Deccan Trading Company, was arrested yesterday along with a lorry containing 1,000 tins of beef fat which was to be dispatched to Guwahati, for the purpose of mixing it in edible oils which can be hazardous and dangerous to life, Kalapathar police said.

"Another 1,800 tins full of beef fat was also seized from his (Hafeez) godown at Alibagh here," Kalapathar Inspector of Police S Khaja Moinuddin said.

Efforts are on to nab two other accused - Mohammed Abdul Razzak and Mohammed Abdul Hameed both brothers of Hafeez, who are still at large, the police officer said.

Further investigations were underway.
