10 sentenced to imprisonment in fodder scam

A special CBI court sentenced 10 fodder scam accused to varying prison terms in connection with fraudulent withdrawal of Rs 51.84 lakh from Hazaribagh treasury in the early 1990s.

A special CBI court on Monday sentenced 10 fodder scam accused to varying prison terms in connection with fraudulent withdrawal of Rs 51.84 lakh from Hazaribagh treasury in the early 1990s.

Special CBI judge, B K Sahay, awarded a maximum of 5 years prison term to former treasury employees B B Prasad and Kasinath Singh and fodder supplier Tripurari Mohan Prasad while imposing a fine amount between Rs 2 lakh and 10 lakh against them.

The court also sentenced K K Sahay, Girish Kumar Sinha, Kedarnath Ram, Nawal Kishore Prasad, Arun Kumar Singh (all former Hazaribag treasury employees), Sushil Kumar and Mahendra Prasad (both suppliers) to four years jail term and slapped fine amount between Rs 5 lakh and Rs 25,000.

It was the 29th fodder case which concluded in convictions. There are 53 fodder cases.
