Ten time bombs and a pack of explosives were recovered from a slum in Siliguri early on Sunday, nearly ten days after a bomb went off, killing three persons in the north Bengal city.
Additional SP Rajesh Yadav said the bombs, fitted with timer devices, were found in a room along with the packet at Gurung Bustee during a police raid at around one in the morning.
A man, who had rented the room for past three months, was arrested. Two more were detained for interrogation, Yadav said.
However, three women who had been staying in the room with the man could not be traced. The nature of the explosives inside the pack was not known, Yadav said.
The recovery has been made barely 10 days after death of three persons in a bomb explosion at Samarnagar area here. A timer device was recovered from the blast site. An alarmed administration has decided to launch a tenant verification drive across Siliguri, an important gateway to North-east, located close to Nepal. "We are issuing verification forms for tenants as well as asking people to keep close tab on newcomers in a locality," an official said.
