The special task force (STF) has arrested almost 100 students who got admission in the medical colleges of Madhya Pradesh through unfair means with the help of some people allegedly in the professional examination board (PEB).

The arrests across the state began on Tuesday evening and continued throughout Wednesday. These students had paid money to the fraudsters who were well-connected to PEB officials and used various means to help the candidates crack pre-medical test (PMT).

Director General of Police (DGP) Nandan Dube said that the action was on. “By late Tuesday night, 66 persons had been arrested. Today also arrests are on and final figure would be known later in the night”, he added.

“Today (Wednesday), we have made 15 arrests in Indore, 10 in Jhbaua, eight in Dhar, eight in Barwani, apart from arrests in Ratlam, Alirajpur, Dhar, Dewas, and other districts. The arrests are on and the figure may go past 150”, said an STF officer.

Apart from students, their kin involved in paying money to middle-men or other members of racket, would also be caught, the officer added.
