The city that reported the country’s first swine flu casualty on August 3, recorded the death of the 100th H1N1-affected patient on Thursday.

Twenty eight-year-old Mohini Undre of Manjri in Pune district died at Nobel Hospital, taking the Pune swine flu toll to 100.

Health officials said among the 100 swine flu-related casualties, 37 patients had other ailments like diabetes and other heart-related diseases, and eight women who succumbed to the virus were pregnant.

“The number of casualties is just one per cent of the total number of swine flu-affected patients admitted” said Dr Arun Jamkar, dean, Sassoon Hospital.

Pradeep Awate, medical officer and former head of state swine flu cell, said Maharashtra has recorded 206 swine flu deaths.
