THE THIRD day of counselling for qualifying students of All India Engineering Entrance Examination (AIEEE)-2006 being organised at Motilal National Institute of Technology (MNNIT) witnessed the reporting of 1085 students as against 1868 registered students of the general and the physically- challenged category on Friday. Till evening, a total of 168 allotments of seats had taken place following the choice filling exercise by the students. In light of the large number of students, NIC made available one extra site taking their total number to two to ensure a smooth on-line process. The members of counselling committee including Prof Rajiv Tripathi and Dr Neeraj Tyagi led by counselling co-ordinator Prof Krishna Kant made several rounds of inspections at the choice filling centre to ensure smooth conduct on Friday.
As per the trend, MNNIT continued to be the first choice of the students followed by NIT, Varanasi and NIT Surathkul.
Similarly, most of the students opted for mechanical engineering, information technology and electronics and telecommunication engineering as their top choices. The allotment of the institution and branches were made for students who filled their choice on day one.
The second day too, saw 474 students reporting at MNNIT as against the registered 941 students. Day two scheduled for students belonging to ST/SC had begun at 9 am and counselling committee had opened new verification counters.
