His bold stand against land sharks may have won Huda administrator Praveen Kumar many friends but it has put his life in danger.

Taking into account the threat perception, the state government has deployed 11 commandos of the Haryana Armed Force to take care of his security. The administrator received death threats after he launched a demolition drive at Sikandarpur village.

This is the first time that a government official is being given such high security in Gurgaon. In December, the administrator had led a team of officials to carry out a demolition drive at Sector 45, where locals had encroached upon Huda land. The Huda had recovered 70 acres from encroachers.

During a recent visit, SS Dhillon, financial commissioner-cum-principal secretary, had talked about these issues at length. “He was threatened by gangsters at Sector 40 where he had confronted land grabbers who had been using Huda plots to raise their cattle sheds,” said an official of the Huda. “We want an upright administrator like him,” said OP Kataria, a resident.
