Eleven Central Reserve Police Force personnel, serving in Jammu and Kashmir, were awarded President's police medal and police medal for gallantly performing their duty during the counter-insurgency operations in the valley.
"On the eve of Independence day celebrations 11 CRPF personnel, including three officers, were awarded gallantry medals," a CRPF spokesperson said on Sunday.
He said, DIG NK Bharadwaj, Assistant Commandant of 137 battalion and Inspector Puajja Lal were among those decorated with medals.
Constable Jeetender Singh was given the medal posthumously.
Nine other CRPF personnel, who were handling the counter-insurgency operations in the valley along with local police, were awarded meritorious services medals, he added.
