As many as 11 suspected drug peddlers have been arrested in Srinagar in the past month, during a special drive of Jammu and Kashmir Police against drug abuse.
"Police, continuing its fight against the menace of drugs in the city, have arrested 11 peddlers in January this year," a police spokesman said on Sunday.He said the police had also registered remarkable success in its drive against drug trade and abuse last year.
"During the first month of this year, police recovered 9,095 tablets, 985 bottles of Codeine Phosphate, 600 grams of charas from the arrested person.Six cases have been registered against the peddlers in different police stations of the city," the spokesman said.
The spokesman said people should come forward and cooperate with police in this fight against drug addiction."People are requested that if they notice any such illicit activity in their areas they should inform the police instantly. The identity of conscious citizens will be kept secret," he added.
