Five members of a family were hacked to death in Hamirpur when unknown men stormed a house in Lalpura and murdered a woman and her four children. Jagdish Singh, head of family, was missing with police suspecting that he had been kidnapped by the assassins.
Singh’s wife Brijlata (36), sons Gullu (6), Guddu (2), Shivam (12) and daughter Akanksha (10) were found lying in a pool of blood.
Property and litigation documents were found scattered in the room and the courtyard, indicating that the killers had searched the house. Police suspect the killers were known to the family as there was no sign of a forced entry.
SP Hamirpur, Surya Nath Singh, said several teams were working on locating Singh.
Meanwhile, a dispute on liquor consumption led to the murder of two brothers and their brother-in-law in Rajapur of Chitrakoot district, in a group clash. Three persons suffered serious injuries in the shooting. Reports said that two groups - Jawahar Yadav and Umesh Giri-Dhundun Kewat - clashed during a ceremony organised by the former. Umesh’s supporters fired indiscriminately with rifles killing Jawahar’s brothers Shyam and Sundar Yadav and their brother-in-law, Ashok.
In Orai, Paras Soni (29) barged into the house of Devki Nandan Pathak and shot his daughter Roopsi (24), who died on the spot. Soni then went back to his house and shot his wife Sangeeta in the face, after which he shot himself in the head. While Sangeeta also died, Soni has been admitted to the district hospital. Another murder was reported from Mahoba area.
