There are a highest number of 112 legislators in Maharashtra whose profession is farming while there are six each doctors and lawyers.
Among the 289 members of state Assembly, there are 34 Members who belong to political and social field and 109 are from industrial and business houses, 89 are ordinary graduates, six medicine graduates, eight engineering graduates and 19 have law degrees.
The book 'Who's who of the 12th Maharashtra State Assembly' says there are 22 postgraduate degree holders and seven business management degree holders. Sixty four members have studied up to graduation, 41 of them are SSC and 20 are below SSC.
There are two MLAs who hold doctorate and three have done M.Phil. Five MLAs belong to the age group of 26 to 30 years and 14 between the age group of 31 to 35, 35 in 36-40 years, 41 in 41-45 age group and 52 in the age group of 46-50. Sixty two members belong to the age group of 51-55 yeas and 14 are in the age group of 61-65 years.
There are 12 senior citizens 66-70 years and five in the bracket of 71-75 years. But there are one each members in the age group of 76-80, 81-85 and 86-90 years.
The book has revealed that there are five unmarried MLAs and three MLAs have seven offspring and 120 members including three women have strictly followed the family planning slogan of Hum do hamare do having two kids and 40 members have just one child.
