ANGRY OVER the alleged step-motherly attitude of BHEL management, more than 12,000 supervisors of Bhopal unit will observe ‘protest week’ from October 16 to 19.
While protesting the anti-supervisor attitude of BHEL management, supervisors will take part in a phase-wise agitation that will end with a demonstration at the Administrative Building on October 19. The Federation of All-India BHEL Supervisors gave a call for the protest week.
Talking to Hindustan Times, Supervisors Ekta Manch President K P Dwivedi said during the proposed protest week, they will strictly adhere on ‘work to rule’ and will not do anything else.
Production at BHEL, Bhopal unit is likely to be affected to a certain extent due to this protest, he said. Referring to the anti-supervisory attitude being adopted by the BHEL management, Dwivedi said even at the time of finalising bonus no discussions were held with representative unions of supervisors.
It is unfortunate that despite being a recognised cadre in BHEL, supervisors were not given their due respect and taken for granted.
Similarly, several long pending demands had not been resolved as a result of which resentment is brewing among the cadre. On October 16, they will wear black badges to work while on the next day supervisors of all departments will submit memoranda to their respective general managers highlighting their woes.
On October 18, they will organise a meeting at gate no 6 at 4 pm and a demonstration will be staged at the Administrative Building on October 19.
