A 13-year-old domestic help was found dead in the bathroom of a Sector 41 house on July 27. She was suspected to have committed suicide. Sub Inspector, Pankaj Srivastava said, the deceased has been identified as Anju.
On the day of the incident, the owners Kumar and his wife had gone to Nehru Place and had locked Anju inside, as they had always done whenever they went out. When the couple returned home at around 2.15 pm, Anju was found hanging from the bathroom grill.
Pankaj Srivastava said Anju was illiterate, but no suicide note was found in her room. He added that prima facie it appearedthat she had committed suicide. The body has been sent for post-mortem.
The news of Anju’s death provoked a protest from Bengali domestic servants from nearby sectors, who said she had been murdered. They demanded that a proper investigation be carried out and compensation be paid to the family of the victim.
Meanwhile, senior citizens have expressed concerns over the murder of 80-year-old retired railway officer, in his apartment at sector 34 on Sunday evening.
