Tourism minister Ghulam Ahmed Mir said in the Assembly on Friday that the centre was considering the state government's proposal of granting `150 crore for three mega tourist circuits in state- a sufi circuit in Kashmir, pilgrimage circuit in Jammu, and a Buddhist circuit in Ladakh.
The minister said the construction of ropeway at Patnitop has been already allotted under PPP mode. He said forest clearance from the Supreme Court for this project is expected to be given this month.
Mir said that the government is encouraging youth to take part in water sports at Buglihar and Ranjit Sagar dams and for the purpose incentive is being provided to the intending youth for purchase of water sports equipment.
The minister said that 152 tourism projects, costing `628.86 crore have been sanctioned by the Centre for the State under central funding. He said that seven tourism projects at Rs 18.22 crore under central funding were sanctioned for destinations coming under Patnitop Development Authority.
The tourism minister said that 27 projects under village tourism have been completed. He said in the last three years, union tourism ministry has sanctioned 55 projects worth Rs 308.67 crore and released `134.55 crore for development and upgrade of tourist related infrastructure in the state.
