A Dornier 228 aircraft of the Nigeria Air Force crashed with all 17 military personnel on board feared dead, said a police official.
The accident occurred in Benue in central Nigeria on Sunday, Benue State Police Commissioner Ibezimako Aghanya said.
He said the details were still sketchy and the possibility of survivors could not be ruled out.
There were unconfirmed reports that a top officer in the Nigerian military was on board the ill-fated aircraft.
The plane left Abuja southward for Cross River but crashed in Benue, less than 20 minutes from the end of the one-hour flight."It was a military plane," said Angus Ozoka, director of the Accident Investigation and Prevention Bureau. "We have to get the report of the military before we can move in and confirm details."
