A fresh batch of 2,668 pilgrims on Sunday left for the 3,888-metre high Amarnath cave shrine in south Kashmir Himalayas from the Bagwati Nagar base camp here amid firm security, officials said in Jammu on Sunday.
"Over 2.37 lakh pilgrims have paid obeisance to the naturally former Ice Ligum of Lord Shiva so far", they said, adding Over 8076 pilgrims are on their way to the shrine.
The 19th batch that left today included 1,758 men, 596 women, 217 Sadhus and 97 children.
They proceeded towards their respective yatra base camps at Nunwan and Baltal under tight security cover at around 0400 hours.
All arrangements, including security, are in place for smooth sojourn via Pahalagam and Baltal, they said.
Escorted by a security vehicle, a convoy of 80 vehicles, including 27 government buses, 31 private passenger buses and 22 Light Motor Vehicles (LMVs), left the Yatri Bhawan here at 0430 hrs, they added.
