THE STAGE is set for the main examination of the Pre-Medical Test (PMT) on Sunday. It will be held for admission to undergraduate courses at the Institute of Medical Sciences in Banaras Hindu University (BHU).

As many as 2750 candidates, who were short-listed after a screening test, will appear in the main examination at five centres. The centres are: the Mahila Mahavidyalaya, the Social Science Faculty, the Arts Faculty, the Commerce Faculty and the Ayurveda Faculty on the BHU campus on Sunday.

The test will be held from 9.30 am to 12.30 pm.

Eight hundred candidates each will appear at the Mahila Mahavidyalaya and the Social Science Faculty centres. Six hundred aspirants will take the examination at the Arts Faculty centre, 300 at the Commerce Faculty centre and 250 at the Ayurveda faculty centre.

Sources said the Banaras Hindu University administration would run two buses from the main gate to the examination centres from 6 am on Sunday. Besides, two make-shift waiting halls would be set up near the Mahila Mahavidyalaya and the Maitri Jalpan Grih for the parents of the candidates.

Twenty observers will be deployed to ensure smooth conduct of the  entrance examination.

A special squad, comprising senior faculty members of the IMS-BHU, will keep a close watch on all the five centres.

Banaras Hindu University chief proctor Prof SK Singh said special security arrangements were made for the examination.

“All the five centres will be sealed for outsiders during the examination.”
Sources said the results would be declared within a week.

The screening test was conducted at Varanasi, New Delhi, Kolkata and Hyderabad centres on May 10.
