Two professionals of a well-known company of Gurgaon were arrested for teasing a Delhi-based girl in the posh Galleria Market locality on Thursday night.

The accused, identified as Himanshu (22) of Panipat and Dev Ahlawat (23) of Sohna, are engineers in the Manesar-based Maruti plant.

The duo was arrested for allegedly teasing the girl and fighting with her two friends, besides damaging a kiosk in the brawl.

Narrating the incident, Amit Luthra, one of the victims’, said, “I along with my fiancé met my friend, who was accompanying his girlfriend, at Galleria Market around 10.30pm. When we reached the venue, the duo started passing lewd comments.”

“I asked them not to do so, but they were under the influence of liquor. Instead of apologising, they slapped me and tried to drag me by the neck,” said Luthra.

“Though the duo looked well-educated, they behaved abnormally. It seems they were heavily drunk,” said the girl on the condition of anonymity.

Meanwhile, the police arrived at the venue on time, detained the accused and lodged a complaint.

“A complaint was also lodged by the kiosk owner whose kiosk was badly damaged,” said Maheshwar Dayal, DCP (east), Gurgaon.

“The duo was produced in the court on Friday and later granted bail,” said Jagdish Parshad, SHO of Sector 29 police station.

Recently, an incident of eve-teasing had sparked a massive brawl on the MG Road on the night of December 31.

Around 30-40 men molested a 25-year-old BPO employee who works in Gurgaon. She had come from Delhi with her friend to a party. Some goons even tried to kidnap her. The police later resorted to baton-charge to control the crowd.
