Two Jammu and Kashmir Light infantry (JKLI) jawans were arrested by the Army for their alleged links with a Lashker-e-Taiba (LeT) commander, official sources said on Wednesday.

The two jawans--Lance Naik Mohammad Shakeel and Sepoy Abdul Haq--posted in Yole camp in Himachal Pradesh based 9 corps, were arrested in Jammu by the military intelligence wing of army when they were on their way to resume duties after a vacation, they said.

The duo were picked up by police in Mendhar area of Poonch district on Saturday for questioning in connection with their alleged links with LeT "district commander" Abu Usama believed to be responsible for grenade attacks in Jammu but later let off, the sources said.

The two jawans, who earlier served in counter insurgent force with 8 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) in Kulgam area of south Kashmir, are residents of Gursai area of Mendhar tehsil in Poonch district, where they developed links with LeT's Abu Usama, the sources said.

They were being interrogated to know the role played for the LeT commander in Poonch and Jammu areas while serving in the army, they added.
