The security forces killed two militants in a brief gunfight in south Kashmir on Tuesday. Unconfirmed reports said that two CRPF and two civilians were also injured in the encounter.
There was some confusion as to how the encounter ensued as police and CRPF versions are different.
A police official said a joint party of CRPF and special operations group of police intercepted a vehicle near the Jammu and Kashmir Entrepreneurship Development Institute on the Srinagar-Jammu highway.
“There were militants in the vehicle, who opened fire ensuing an encounter,” the official said.
However, CRPF public relation officer (PRO) AK Jha said the militants in the vehicle tried to attack camp of 110 Battalion.
“Initial reports say that two militants have been killed,” added Jha.
