2 nomad women killed, 8 injured in mishap

Two nomad women were killed and eight others were seriously injured when a vehicle they were travelling in rolled down into a deep gorge in Nathatop area of Udhampur district.

According to reports, a jeep carrying the nomads from Kud to Nathatop during wee hours on Saturday, skidded off the road and rolled down into 300-feet-deep gorge near Chilla Morh on the Patnitop- Sanasar road. People of the area came to know about the accident only in the morning when an injured person managed to reach the road as the vehicle had gone 300 feet down in the slope.

Reports added that rescue operation was launched immediately on receiving the information while the injured were shifted to the sub-district hospital, Chenani.

The deceased were identified as 44-year--old Bibi Fatima and 70-year-old Tara Bibi. Reports said the Gujjar family was shifting to plains with the onset of winter.
