"Acting on a tip-off, the CRPF and its specialised Special Action Force (SAF) apprehended 'area commander' Ananda Kumar and 'zonal commander' Bhabataran Mahto and three others from the Ayodhya hills and handed them over to the police," Purulia SP Rajsekhar Yadav said.

A pistol, black flags, posters and Maoist literature were recovered from their possession, he said.
